Genital warts are a very common and highly contagious sexually transmitted disease caused by the human papilloma virus. This disease is no respecter of persons and can affect both men and women. It is transmitted through sexual contact and though there are approximately 30 different strains of the virus that affect the genitals in one way or another, very few actually cause genital warts.
Anyone who suspects they are infected or sees the signs of the virus should immediately seek medical attention. Leaving genital warts untreated can have very serious repercussions including cell damage and reproductive health problems.
Genital warts remedies can be both medical and non-medical. Doctors will cauterize or burn the warts or else use liquid nitrogen to freeze them. Otherwise chemicals may be used to rid the patient of the warts. One other option is laser surgery if the warts are very big. All of these methods are very painful; they will burn and give you a lot of pain.
There are many non medical genital warts remedies or home remedies which include:
- Banana peel and pineapple pulp applied on cotton wool and taped over the warts; these remedies are very good for warts and should be left on for several hours.
- Consume more sulfur based amino acids such as eggs, citrus fruit, asparagus, garlic and onions in your diet
- Apple cider vinegar applied with a soft cloth or cotton wool and gently massaged into the warts is very effective. Be prepared for the burning though!
- Fresh aloe vera juice applied directly onto the warts is very effective.
Applications should be done using cotton wool that is taped over the warts. It is best to leave it on the whole night for the remedies to be effective. You can wash it off in the morning.
